Already using your number on the WhatsApp API with another provider or platform, and want to use it with Mampu AI? Meta no longer moves a number from one provider to another. Instead you share the number with Mampu AI. Your old provider stays connected until you remove it, so after connecting you choose which provider gets your chats.
Not migrating? If your number is on the WhatsApp Business app, see Connecting a WhatsApp inbox. For a brand-new number, see Registering a WhatsApp official number.
Before you start
- Access to the Facebook account that has access to the Business Portfolio which owns the number.
- The number is currently registered on the WhatsApp API (WhatsApp official) with another provider or platform.
- The number has fewer than 5 providers connected, and can message at least 1,000 customers a day. Meta only lets a number be shared when both are true.
- If you started connecting this number to Mampu AI before and didn’t finish, remove that earlier connection in Meta Business Suite first. Otherwise Meta greys out Next when you pick the number.
1. Connect the number in Mampu AI
Follow Registering a WhatsApp official number. In Meta’s window, pick the same business portfolio and choose your existing number.
2. Add a payment card for Mampu AI
Meta creates a new Messaging account for Mampu AI when you connect. Each provider is billed through its own Messaging account, and a card can’t be shared between them. Add a payment method to the new one in Meta Business Suite. Without it, WhatsApp blocks the messages your business starts, such as blasts and follow-ups.
3. Send your chats to Mampu AI
While your old provider is still connected, Meta’s Conversation routing decides which provider receives each new chat. When you connect Mampu AI, Meta keeps sending chats to your old provider, so your Mampu AI inbox stays empty. Fix it in one of two ways.
Option A: Remove your old provider (simplest)
- Open Meta Business Suite settings and pick your business.
- Go to Accounts → Messaging accounts, select your old provider’s Messaging account, click Manage next to the provider and then Remove access.
- Go to Accounts → WhatsApp accounts, select the account that holds your number, click Manage next to your old provider and then Remove access.
Once Mampu AI is the only provider left, every chat comes to Mampu AI.
Option B: Keep both providers and choose Mampu AI for your chats
- Open Meta Business Suite settings and pick your business.
- Go to Accounts → WhatsApp accounts, select the account that holds your number and open Conversation routing.
- Choose Mampu AI’s app (Meta lists it as JomChat) for Customer sends a message and Customer replies to click-to-WhatsApp ad. If you send blasts from Mampu AI, choose it for Customer replies to a marketing message and Customer replies to a utility message too.
- Click Save. If Meta warns that the change affects other integrations, click Update.
New chats come to Mampu AI straight away. A chat that is already open stays with your old provider until the customer has been quiet for a day.
If Meta still sends this number’s chats to another provider, your inbox shows a red notice: Meta is sending this number’s chats to another provider. It clears on its own within a day of your fix.
Numbers on Meta’s older account setup
If your number’s settings in WhatsApp Manager still show a Two-step verification tab, the number is on Meta’s older setup. Turn two-step verification off before you connect it (WhatsApp Manager settings). If you don’t own the WhatsApp account, ask your old provider to do it. When the tab isn’t there, skip this step: there is nothing to turn off.
You’re done
Send your number a message from a phone that hasn’t chatted with it before. It should arrive in your Mampu AI inbox, and your AI agent can reply. Manage the inbox anytime under Settings → Inboxes.
