A journey is one large part of your flow: a starting step and every step after it, up to the next journey. Each option of your first menu is a journey on its own, and you can start more journeys on steps further down the flow. Journeys show on the canvas as clouds, and one agent setting decides whether the AI may move a customer from one journey to another.
Journeys on the canvas

- Each option of the first menu starts a journey. Its cloud carries a Journey pill and the card of its first step shows Journey: followed by the option’s name.
- A journey you start yourself gets its own cloud, named after the line that leads into it or after the step’s label.
- A step that two journeys both reach, such as a closing thank-you, sits between the clouds and belongs to neither.
- A journey never sits inside another one.
Start a journey on a step

- Click the step, scroll to Advanced settings at the end of the panel and expand it.
- Switch on Starts a journey and press Save Changes. The step and every step after it, up to the next journey, now form one journey with its own cloud.
Good to know:
- The first step of each menu option already reads as on. Switch it off and that option’s steps no longer form a journey of their own.
- A step that already sits inside a journey cannot start one; the panel names the journey it is in.
- Start and End steps never start a journey.
A shortcut: press a line on the canvas and choose Start a journey from the next step.

Keep the AI inside the journey

- Open Settings in the designer header and expand Advanced settings at the end of the dialog.
- Flow AI can switch journeys is on by default: when a customer asks about something that belongs to another journey, the AI may take them there, starting at that journey’s first step.
- Switch it off and the AI stays inside the journey the customer is in. It answers in place and returns to the current question instead of moving the customer. The lines you drew between journeys still work as drawn.
Good to know:
- Answers the customer already gave are shared across journeys: a name given in one journey is not asked again in another.
- Nothing changes for an existing flow until you start a journey on a step or switch the setting off.
